When you set up camp on the banks of Lake Windermere at Social District, there are many things you can do on the lake and its shores. Bring your own paddleboard, kayak or canoe, or hire a boat from one of the many points around the lake. Enjoy delicious food from a café in one of the lakeside villages around the Lake District National Park. The site is located less than five minutes from two activity centres that offer various pursuits such as watersports, laser tag, and abseiling.
Being just a 15-minute walk away from the nearest Windermere ferry stop, makes it even easier to visit the attractions around the lake. You can explore a jetty museum, a castle, and the characterful parks, shops, and restaurants of Windermere village.
Since the campsite backs onto the lake, fishing can be enjoyed right from the site. It's also directly opposite an old bobbin mill (now an English Heritage museum). A 10-minute drive will take you to the Hill Top National Trust site, where you can delve into the fascinating life of Beatrix Potter.
We have 15 spacious pitches all with beautiful lake and hillside views. It's all about getting back to nature here, we provide basic facilities including three flushing toilets and three showers.
Our local shop is a five minute drive away and is the place for picnic supplies or to grab some meat for the grill (both barbecues and campfires are permitted back on site). When you feel like a drink or a meal out, there are several great places to eat within a 20 minute drive.
